People who have lost a significant amount of weight - where did you start? (For guidance/tips/mindset/plans etc.)

Hello all,

I’ve had a bad relationship with food from pre-teen years. As a man pushing 30 who is 6ft 5 and broad, my body developed much quicker than everyone else’s and despite a couple successful periods of losing weight - it yo yo’s far too much and I want to be as fit as I can for when I hit 30.

I haven’t stepped on the scales out of fear of the number, but a doctor would consider me obese. I’m fortunate in that my height covers a lot of it, but it needs to change.

I know there’s a bunch of fitness threads and influencers here and on social media - but it does feel very overwhelming and I feel that I’m just being promoted to all the time. So my question is really a “How did you get started” rather than specifically wanting a step by step guide.

I’ll never run a marathon, or have a six pack, so I just want advice from regular people who made a healthier life choice.
