Indian parents have a mindset that they never gonna need anyone in their life. Is it right?

So many Indian parents have a mindset that they don't need anyone and due to which they think that they are doing a favour (ehsaan) on their kids. I'm not denying that they're but isn't it a duty? Is their thinking true?
