Worried landlord is stealing power

I just got a power bill that's 3x higher than normal with no extra usage I can find and am worried the LL is stealing it to run their liquor store downstairs.

They took over the property a year ago and have been sketchy ever since. Now the power company is saying that we have high and continuous use of power from 9pm till 8am every day. This is in an apartment with no dishwasher or laundry or any major appliance other than the refrigerator so I'm at a loss as to how it could be coming from the apartment with no issue change. I have the power company coming out to check and test the meter, but an not sure what else I can do to change the situation.

Is there another rational explanation before I try to go and launch an investigation?
