Would you stay knowing you could be charged $16,000 by the feds?
I recently changed careers. Couldn't hack it in customer service it. The pay and benefits were good but mentally it was destroying me.
Thankfully I have found a great job that has allowed me to go back to school which I start tomorrow.
I work overnights with my boyfriend so yeah and carpooling they have health coverage. They help pay for my college and they have a good starting pay. My shifts look like anywhere between 3:00 to 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. it's manual labor so they don't have longer shifts unless it's busy time.
Anyways everything has been great. I go in this morning and during the meeting they tell us if we lose these certain badges (think security) we are automatically fine by the federal government 16,000. Then the company is separately fined as well.
Meaning if you lose your badge and you quit, it doesn't matter. You still owe the federal government $16,000.
I don't lose things often and especially stuff that's important so I'm not overly concerned. But I am the average American trying to get my life back together and I definitely don't have $16,000.
Would you stay at this job considering everything else is such a positive or is $16,000 over a lost badge Not worth it?
Edit to update. I just found out the charge is not from the federal government. It would be from TSA. Not like it makes it any different. But yeah that's where the charge will be coming from.
