Most embarrassing thing happened to me.

Didn't know what other flair to use and this one is somewhat fitting since everyone else can share similar stories to hopefully make me feel less embarrassed lolll.

So the fanfics I currently read are of a popular ship but with barely any fics and the majority that do exist are abandoned or oneshots. There are 3 that are currently updating monthly or so and I've been commenting on new updates, complimenting their writing, talking about what happened in them etc. Basically I'm just very much present and the three authors probably recognize my username at this point, they always seem grateful so it's not like I'm being weird about it but yk.

Now, I also have a twitter account that I recently created, with the same username as my Ao3 and I'm also very much involved with the community of people that post about the couple on there. They are currently going through a bad break up in the canon story but a few people are thinking they never actually broke up and were working together to mess with someone else and the break up was part of it. Someone in the comments of a post talking about this said "This sounds a lot like the (couple name) fanfiction I've been reading if it's what's actually going on."

I knew what fanfiction they were talking about and commented "(fanfiction name) by (author's name)?"

An hour or so layer the person I replied to liked my comment and reading their username I realized, THEY WERE THE AUTHOR.

It was a very similar username to their Ao3 one and they said they were an Ao3 writer in their bio. I feel like I looked like a stalker or something and idek if I'll ever comment on their work again, I'm so embarrassed thinking about it.
