Aitah for letting a kid pet my puppy?

I (19f) live in a town home complex where everyone is really close in proximity. there's this kid (10-11f) who loves dogs. I recently got a new puppy and train her outside. Pretty much every time this kid is out there she asks to let one of my dogs and I let her. She usually tells me all about her dogs and her grandmas dogs and asks me questions about training and I happily answer them. The most recent time I was out training her mom was out there with her, I waved to them and smiled then went back to training my pup. Her mom starts walking towards my with an angry look on her face. And she goes "excuse me. My daughter told me you talk to her and let her pet your dogs" I was like yeah of course then she goes on to say "that's not appropriate for you to be talking to a little girl and letting her pet your dog, you need to stay the hell away from her or I'll report you" I'm so confused because I didn't think there was anything wrong with it, I let pretty much anyone pet my puppy because she needs socializing. So am I the asshole for letting a kid pet my dog or was the mom acting crazy?
