Brand Clarity... Shire (Takeda) / Teva
I learned something new today.
Adderall XR is owned and produced by Shire / Takeda.
Adderal IR is owned and produced by Teva.
Teva ALSO makes a generic IR version, but it's actually not produced by Teva, but by a sub manufacturer.
I was finding side effects to be brutal on some of the generics, so I gave XR (my main dose) a try in brand from Shire. What a difference. No side effects, works 'in the background' like it should.
Today, I picked up my IR boosters, intentionally looking to try brand again for the month to avoid the generic side effects I was getting from Epic (all that's been available lately). I was expecting them to also be produced by Shire, but alas it's Teva.
There is NO other 'authorized' generic (i.e. exact same formula both main and fillers). There are however like a dozen generics out there, Lanette, Elite, Epic, Mallenckrodt, etc, etc.
Also, pro tip - if you are struggling with the price of the IR in brand, see if your doctor will prescribe fewer pills at a higher dose. For example, if your normal prescription is 30 10mg tablets, you can do 15 20mg tablets and break them in half. The cost will literally be half, as the cost is not dose dependent, but pill quantity dependent.
