Bronze Age Village Discovered in Morocco: Another blow to those who believe civilisation came from the east
This discovery debunks the myth that North African societies were primitive until Phoenician and Greek influence, proving they had advanced settlements and agriculture long before.
Recent archaeological excavations in Morocco have uncovered a Bronze Age village at the Kach Kouch site in the Oued Laou Valley, near the Strait of Gibraltar. Led by a team from the University of Barcelona, this discovery challenges previous assumptions that complex societies in the region only emerged after Phoenician influence. The site, dated to the early Bronze Age, provides evidence of structured settlements, agricultural activity, and advanced tool-making, indicating a well-organized society. Alongside other recent finds, such as a Neolithic farming settlement at Oued Beht, these discoveries are reshaping our understanding of North Africa’s prehistoric civilizations and their role in early Mediterranean history.
